DMC World DJ Championships come home to London, and the turntables are already nervous

The world’s biggest turntablism battle returns to London on 13th and 14th November.

Next weekend, the world’s finest turntablists descend on London for the DMC World DJ Championships, which is excellent news for scratch fans and terrible news for any vinyl hoping for a quiet life.

Co-founded in London by Tony Prince back in 1985, the competition returns to home soil on 13th and 14th November for its 41st edition. DJs from 50 countries will battle across four categories for world titles, using skills that include scratching blindfolded and spinning on their heads on the decks. Not at the same time, presumably. Although you never know.

It’s also pulled a properly ridiculous crowd over the years, with Janet Jackson, Lisa Stansfield, James Brown and Ice-T all having dropped by. Your mate who “used to DJ a bit at uni” has some serious competition.

Friday: the Eliminations Battleground

Things kick off at Theata on Victoria Embankment on Friday 13th, a date that feels about right for anyone who’s ever had a record skip mid-set. Ones to watch include 14-year-old DJ Michelle from Dubai, the youngest DMC entrant ever, and 17-year-old The Kid RC3 from the US. Making the rest of us feel deeply unaccomplished since 2026.

Flying the flag for the UK is Manchester’s Tommy P Nuts, who has won the UK National Final three years running but has never lifted the world title. Fourth time lucky, Tommy. The night also brings multiple world champion Craze and vinyl king DJ Koco, performing together in the UK for the first time.

Saturday: the Finals

Saturday 14th moves to KOKO for the main event. UK legends Scratch Perverts will be inducted into the DMC Hall of Fame, then perform together at the Dingwalls afterparty for the first time in 20 years, hosted by none other than Killa Kela. Twenty years. Some of us haven’t been out that late since then either.

Also on the bill: three-time world champion JFB performing across seven Technics turntables (seven, because six would be lazy), rapper Monie Love, a showcase from the UK B-Boy Champs Allstars, and appearances from Cutmaster Swift, A-Trak and DJ Noize.

Forty-one years after it started here, DMC is back where it belongs. Bring earplugs, bring respect, and leave your controller at home.
